If you’re like most people, you probably use your computer for work and entertainment. But if you’re like many people who also use their computers for music storage, you may have noticed that your music collection is scattered all over the place. Maybe your music is in a folder on your desktop, but it’s also in a folder on your laptop, and maybe even in a folder on an external hard drive. This problem is called “groove folder synchronization,” and it’s caused by the way Windows handles folders. When you create a new folder, Windows automatically creates a corresponding subfolder inside of the main “My Music” folder. So if you have 50 songs in your “My Music” folder, and you create a new “Songs” folder, Windows will create a subfolder called “Songs” inside of the “My Music” folder on your computer. Unfortunately, this automatic synchronization doesn’t work well if you want to keep your music collection organized. If you have 50 songs in the “Songs” subfolder inside of the “My Music” folder on your computer, but you want to add 100 new songs to that same directory, Windows will try to add all 100 songs to the same spot inside of the main “My Music” directory - which is probably not what you wanted! To solve this problem, we need to disable groove folder synchronization. To do that: ..

Open Settings and go to System > Storage > Change where new content is saved. Click on This PC and then click on “Remove everything and just use the space on this device”.
